How Much Does StoryTerrace Cost?

StoryTerrace costs $295 for a Book Taster, $1,200 for Swift, from $3,250 for Classic and from $24,000 for PRO, according to its US pricing page. A Tailored package is quote-only. Classic and PRO can be split into five interest-free monthly payments.

The “from” matters. Classic and PRO are entry prices, and a longer book or extra interview time moves you up the range.

What Does Each StoryTerrace Package Include?

Each StoryTerrace package bundles a writer, interviews, design and printed copies into one price. The difference between tiers is length, interview time, writer seniority and the number of copies. Here is what each one buys.

Book Taster ($295)

The Book Taster is a one-hour interview with a professional writer. Within three to five days you get a central storyline, a high-level outline, a note on voice and style, a sample page and a cover sample.

The $295 is deductible from any full package if you buy within 14 days of delivery. Older reviews, including our own earlier write-up, quote $150 for this tier. The live page now says $295.

Swift ($1,200)

Swift is the budget option: four remote interview hours, a 60-page book of about 7,500 words, 20 photos and one hard copy, delivered in as little as six weeks.

As of October 2026 the US shop marks Swift as sold out, and it no longer appears on the main pricing page. Treat it as unavailable unless StoryTerrace confirms otherwise.

Classic (from $3,250)

Classic is the most popular package. You get a senior writer, a dedicated project manager, 4 to 10 hours of interviews, a 60–120 page book with 20–40 photos, and four hardbound copies.

That page count is a slim keepsake, not a full-length memoir. Our guide on how long a memoir should be puts typical published memoirs well above 120 pages.

PRO (from $24,000)

PRO targets business leaders and anyone who wants a longer, polished book. It includes a premium writer, a team of six professionals, 10+ interview hours, 125+ pages, 40 photos and 20 hard copies.

At this price you are in the same range as hiring an independent ghostwriter. Our ghostwriter cost guide shows what that money buys elsewhere.

What Hidden Costs Does StoryTerrace Have?

StoryTerrace’s hidden costs sit outside the package price: extra printed copies, self-publishing packages, Amazon ad spend and extension fees if your project runs long. None of them are hidden in a dishonest sense, but none appear on the pricing page either.

  • Extra copies. Each package includes a fixed number of copies. More cost extra, priced by package and quantity, and the StoryTerrace FAQ asks you to call for a quote.
  • Amazon Essential: $1,200. Its publishing page lists ebook and paperback on Amazon, cover adjustments, metadata research and an author profile.
  • Global Distribution & Amazon Advertising Support: $5,500. Adds cover design, hardcover formatting, IngramSpark distribution and three months of ad management.
  • Ad spend. Not included. StoryTerrace recommends about $20 a day for the first month.
  • Extension fees. Projects aim to finish in four to seven months. If publishing support runs over, extra months cost $300 (Amazon Essential) or $500 (higher tiers).

So a realistic Classic-plus-Amazon order lands around $4,450. Classic with global distribution and a first month of ads approaches $9,350.

Does StoryTerrace Offer Payment Plans, Discounts or Refunds?

StoryTerrace offers a five-month interest-free payment plan on full packages, seasonal discounts, and refunds within 30 days of your first payment as long as you have not yet accepted a proposed writer. After you accept a writer, payments are non-refundable.

Discounts are worth waiting for if you are not in a hurry. The FAQ references Black Friday offers of up to $650 off selected packages and $100 off around Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

One rights detail to note: by default StoryTerrace shares the copyright with you. You can ask your editor to sign full copyright over to you at no charge, so do it before printing.

Is StoryTerrace Worth the Money?

StoryTerrace is worth the money when the story lives in someone else’s head. If you want a parent or grandparent’s life captured before it is lost, you are paying for a skilled interviewer and a project manager who keeps the work moving for five months. That is hard to replicate yourself.

It is poor value if you are the one with the story. Much of what you pay for is interviewing and project management, not the prose itself. Our full StoryTerrace review covers the draft-quality complaints in detail.

Where StoryTerrace Beats Chapter

StoryTerrace beats Chapter in three areas, and it is fair to say so plainly.

  1. Someone else does the interviewing. A trained writer draws out stories an elderly relative would never write down. Chapter cannot sit with your grandmother.
  2. You receive a finished heirloom. Classic ships four hardbound, photo-rich copies. Chapter produces a manuscript, and printing is up to you.
  3. You barely lift a finger. You talk and approve. With Chapter, you are the author and you steer every chapter.

If you are buying a gift for a parent who will never type a word, StoryTerrace is the better purchase. A good family interview question list helps either way.
